Mohammed V Airport — Practical Arrival Guide
Arriving at Mohammed V airport in Casablanca for the first time may feel daunting, but in reality everything is well organised and well signposted. This practical guide takes you step by step from landing to leaving the airport for your final destination.
Immediately After Landing
When the plane stops, switch on your phone and connect to the airport Wi-Fi (available from the jetway in most terminals). Check whether your Welcomorocco driver or local contact has sent you a welcome message. Follow the flow of passengers to the terminal — corridors are clearly marked.
In Terminal 1: International Flights
The vast majority of international flights (European carriers, Gulf airlines, etc.) land at Terminal 1. This is the best-equipped terminal, with direct access to the ONCF rail station (level -1).
Sequence to Follow in T1
- Follow signs for "Passport Control"
- Present your valid passport (+ boarding card if requested)
- Collect your luggage at the carousel shown on the screens
- Pass through customs (green channel for most travellers)
- Exit into the public welcome hall
In the Public Arrivals Hall
This is the key area. Here is what you will find:
- Your Welcomorocco driver with a sign bearing your name in the welcome area
- ATMs to withdraw dirhams
- Currency exchange offices (lower rates than ATMs)
- Car hire desks (Hertz, Avis, Europcar, Sixt)
- Mobile phone shops for Moroccan SIM cards
- Cafes and fast food
- ONMT information desk (Moroccan National Tourism Office)
Finding Your Welcomorocco Driver
Your driver is positioned in the welcome area in the centre of the arrivals hall. They hold a sign with your first and last name in capital letters. If you have difficulty, call the number in your Welcomorocco confirmation email directly — they will answer immediately.
If You Are Taking the Train
To reach the ONCF station without leaving the terminal, take the lifts or escalators down to level -1 from the Terminal 1 arrivals hall. Trains to Casa-Voyageurs run approximately every 30 to 60 minutes. Buy your ticket at the desk or from automatic machines.
If You Are Taking an Official Taxi
Exit the terminal through the main doors and head for the official grand taxi queue, signposted by signs. Never trust someone who approaches you inside the terminal offering a ride.
