Arriving at Mohammed V airport — practical guide

Arriving at Mohammed V airport in Casablanca for the first time can feel daunting. This practical guide takes you step by step from landing to your final destination.

Arriving at Mohammed V Airport — Practical Guide

Mohammed V airport welcomes millions of passengers every year arriving from across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. For first-time visitors to Morocco, navigating this airport can feel complex. This practical guide takes you step by step for a smooth arrival at Casablanca's Mohammed V airport.

On Landing

As soon as the plane stops, switch on your phone (Wi-Fi available) and check if your driver or contact has sent you a message. Follow signs for "International Arrivals" or "Baggage". Corridors are well signposted in French, Arabic and English.

Passport Control

Have your passport (or EU identity card for European citizens) ready before reaching the desks. There may be queues, especially for full flights. Special desks exist for Moroccan nationals, diplomats and passengers with reduced mobility.

If asked about your stay, be ready to give your accommodation address and the length of your visit.

Baggage Collection

After passport control, follow signs to the baggage carousels. The display screen shows the carousel number for your flight. Waiting time is typically 15 to 30 minutes. Luggage trolleys are available free of charge.

If your baggage is damaged or missing, report it immediately at your airline's desk before leaving the baggage area.

Customs

After collecting your bags, you pass through customs. The green channel (nothing to declare) for most tourist travellers. Red channel if you are carrying goods above permitted allowances.

The Arrivals Hall

On exiting customs, you enter the public arrivals hall. This is where your Welcomorocco private driver will be waiting if you booked in advance. Look for your name on the sign held by your driver in the welcome area.

  • Note your driver's emergency number before you fly
  • Allow time for formalities — budget 45 minutes to 1.5 hours depending on crowds
